Welcome to Leading Edge Academy San Tan, home of the KNIGHTS! Our students, staff, and community partners welcome you. We are proud of our rigorous academic and behavioural expectations for our students. We are equally proud of our commitment to being a college and career readiness preparatory school.

In addition to our new curriculum and high academic/behavioral standards for students, we’ve developed a positive and powerful Character Education program here at San Tan. It is our belief that students will be equally successful in the real world if they are a person of strong character, with undeniable morals and values. We go above and beyond just having a monthly character trait with an assembly. Teachers deliver unique and relevant character lessons on a weekly basis, many of which consist of real-time, interactive role playing. Students are also rewarded for their character via Character Cards, recognitions, and field trip incentives.

Another initiative is our 90 minute, uninterrupted instruction in all Math and Language Arts classes. This block of time, coupled with small class sizes, enables individual and small group differentiation and allows the teacher time for remediation, re-teaching, lesson extensions, etc. On top of this 90 minute block, for students still struggling, we have flexible intervention grouping twice per day for 55 minutes in the afternoon. We also offer before and after school tutoring intervention. It’s feasible, for some students who take advantage of our intervention efforts, to receive up to 2 hours of Math and/or Language Arts every day and up to 3 hours every other day.

We are a Professional Learning Community here at Leading Edge Academy San Tan. We will continue to be life-long learners and will research and implement best practices as we partner with parents and the community to serve our children to the best extent that we can. We’ve built some great momentum over the last year and a half as our test scores have sky rocketed, our students of character are shining brighter than ever and our behavior referrals have all but diminished. I have an open door policy for students, staff, and parents alike. Please don’t hesitate to come and visit should you have more questions about our great school. I’d love the opportunity to get to know you and your son/daughter and to share with you all the other positive things happening here at Leading Edge Academy San Tan.

For the Kids,

Nick Schuerman
